DP Revalidation / DP Refresher and Competency Assessment Course Classroom and practice
8 Dec - 12 Dec 2025 - C470 - HALTENBANKEN DP lab For those who are revalidating their NI DP certificate without completing CPD modules OR have less than 150 DP days in the last 5 years.
- The training is theory-based with guided practical simulator exercises.
- The objectives of the training are achieved with a combination of classroom teaching and practical exercises on the DP class B simulator.
- The number of participants is maximum 4 per instructor.
To provide the participants with an update on:
- The regulations. The latest developments from the DP industry. IMCA, NI, GOMO, MTS.
- DP systems and sensors. The latest developments from the DP industry.
- FMEA. Focusing on the importance of this document, and the failure modes that are most relevant to the course participants.
- ASOG and other operational guidelines
- DP Incidents and Incident Reporting. The importance of Incident Reporting as a tool for experience transfer.
- DP Incident review. Presentation and discussion of some relevant Incident reports.
- Simulator training DP class B. Practical exercises where emphasis is placed on failure modes that are most relevant to a DPO.
- Preparation for theoretical and practical exams.
After the course you will be able to renew your DP certificate according to NI's requirements for certificate renewal.
The course is suitable for those who have not completed or choose not to complete CPD modules to renew NI DP certification every 5 years OR have already completed a DP certificate from the Nautical Institute or from NMD, but do not have sufficient DP days to renew this.
Examination:
Online theory exam and practical exam in simulator.
Application requirements:
- The certificate is still valid, and the course is taken no more than 12 months before the certificate’s expiry date.
- The certificate has expired no more than three years prior to the course date.
- DP Revalidation: If the DPO previously revalidated via the Revalidation Course, they must have completed a minimum of 28 days of DP sea time, gained while the certificate was valid, and dated within the previous five years.
- DP Refrecher and Competancy Assessment Course: The DPO must have completed a minimum of 30 days of DP sea time, gained while the certificate was valid, and dated within the previous five years.
Please note that revalidated certificates are issued with an expiry date of five years from the expiry date of the previous certificate.
